Lay Organization

The objectives and purpose of the Lay Organization are outlined in its Constitution. The main objectives are stated in brief as follows: To create a love and appreciation of the History and Principles of African Methodism, Keep the memory of Richard Allen alive, Respect Constituted Authority, Stimulate and Educate the Laity in the Total Program of the Church, Study the Discipline and learn the laws of the Church, Encourage Financial Support of the Church’s Program, Teach and Practice Stewardship and work with the Youth to teach them Methodism.

These objectives can best be met when one works to understand the program of the church and relate the church to the World around us. Become involved in Social Action such that the church is then our Community – our Job – Our School, and everywhere that many assembles he carries the church with him.

Women’s Missionary Society (WMS)

The Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) of the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AMEC) is an international faith-based, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), granted Special Consultative Category II Status in 1985 in partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The WMS is composed of members located across four continents in thirty-two countries. We are in the forefront of works of mission, at the head of the Church, operating from the highest level within each of twenty Episcopal Districts and reporting to every meeting of the General and Annual Conferences.

Bethel Lebanon WMS sends card and condolences to commemorate milestones, encourage those who are sick and to provide comfort to those going through loss. The WMS recently held a Sisterhood Tea. We are happy to report that our annual tea was hosted by Raye Kimberlin and Renee Forrester on May 22nd this year. The event was fun and well attended.
